4 Stages To Flow
35 Elements
The Flow Centre’s path to flow is devised of 35 elements that is split into 4 stages. These elements have derived from academic research, experience coaching a variety of performers (including many World Champions), and internal qualitative research.
Once understood they provide us with a focus and toolkit to find flow more frequently in our lives. We go into these elements in great depth during our flow courses.
See example elements below.
Stage 1 – The Flow Mindset
I-Flow Mindset
When we understand that flow is a unique state that we can learn, sustain and recreate, we ignite the power within. Self, ego and conscious thought disappear as we adopt a flow mindset.
Excellence Over Wining
Striving for excellence gives us an unlimited scope to perform, whilst a desire to win induces fear that pollutes our mind and body limiting our ability. When we aim to excel, our biggest challenges become our greatest opportunities.

Stage 2 – Preparation for Flow
Heightened Sensory Experience
The higher our sensory input the more incoming information is at our disposal. If you feel awake now, wait till you feel flow.
Sufficient Challenge
The challenge needs to be equal to, or slightly above, our level of skill for flow to arise. It time to up our game and jump in the deep end.

Stage 3 – Embodiment of Flow
Positive Engagement
In flow we are positively engaged in every interaction. Our pursuit to add value to every situation forms positive tornados that spiral into flow.
Intrinsic Motivation
Flow is an autotelic experience that drives us to want more. No rewards, no hidden agendas, nothing but love for the task at hand.

Stage 4 – Outcomes of Flow
Complete Control
When we recognise control is an illusion, we paradoxically allow ourselves to tap into a realm of supreme competence in which anything is possible.
Time Distortion
As we delve into the now, the past and future cease to exist. We stretch time and experience the present in all its glory.
